Have been testing a new lens — all manual old (1980?) Nikon ED 600mm… it’s basically a telescope. Just awesome crispness of focus…

That was last night, Nov. 1st, camera; Nikon d300 iso200, lens: Nikon ED 600mm f5.6, 1/1250s.

Viewing conditions were hazy tonight (Nov. 2nd) but I did some lens tests anyway, just to compare magnifications and lens characteristics:

The AF-S/VR lens tends to wash out the light tones a bit, whereas the ED has better glass and wider range of tones.
